| Saturday, 8 February, 2003, 15:59 GMT Police consider single phone number ![]() Calls would be answered in a central control room North Yorkshire Police is considering setting up one phone nunber for all non-emergency calls from the public. At the moment, stations have their own phone numbers listed in the directory. But officers think it might be better to have one easy to remember number which would be answered at a central police control centre. This would also save the 999 emergency system from being abused.
