Hospital accused of 'death' blunder
George and Margaret Carter
The family has demanded an apology from the hospital
A woman told by hospital staff in Leicester that her father had died, was shocked to find out later that he had been discharged after treatment.

George Carter, 72, from Humberstone, had been treated for a sickness bug at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The hospital admit that correct procedure was not followed.

Mr Carter and his wife Margaret now want an apology.

Distressed state

He said his daughter had been shocked to be told he had died.

"She did not know, they had just told her I had passed away," he said.

The Carter family say they have not had an apology from the hospital and fear it could happen to someone else.

But in a statement the Leicester Royal Infirmary claimed they had apologised to the family for the shock and distress.

They said staff had been told again about following correct procedure.
