Hull schools are 'good and improving'
School children
The report reflected standards and quality
Three Hull schools are highlighted as "good and improving" in a national report.

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools, David Bell, included McMillan Nursery, Foredyke Primary and Kingswood High in his annual report on standards and quality.

McMillan Nursery received an outstanding Ofsted report at its last inspection.

Foredyke Primary and Kingswood High have been taken out of special measures, which means they are no long considered to be failing schools.

Staff dedication

Mr Bell said these success stories were a testament to both the talent and dedication of the staff who work in the schools and the pupils themselves.

Hull Education Authority's Group Director of Learning Services Peter Fletcher said: "It is very encouraging to see three Hull schools feature in the annual report of the Chief Inspector.

"Only schools that have recently been inspected feature in the annual report - so we can look forward to other Hull schools featuring in future years."

Following their Ofsted visit, inspectors highlighted McMillan as a "very good" nursery school where children are achieving well in all areas of learning.

Fresh start

Headteacher Angela Stones said: "We are all immensely proud of this achievement and will be working hard to continue at this level or above."

Paul Carlile, headteacher of Foredyke, said: "We acknowledge there is still more to be achieved, but we look to the future with confidence."

Kingswood headteacher Kevin Beaton said: "Kingswood High School is one of the most outstanding fresh start schools in the country.

"In just over three years it has been transformed to one of our most exciting inner city schools."
