Lotus announces job losses
Lotus Esprit
Lotus cars are made in Norfolk
Sports car manufacturer Lotus has announced it is to cut up to 95 jobs at its Norfolk plant.

The company says it will be phasing out the jobs - mainly in the manufacturing division - over the next few months.

About 6% of the workforce at the Hethel base near Wymondham could be affected.

A spokesman said the redundancies were regrettable, but the company had tried to keep them to a minimum.

The firm is turning its attention to the global market, and plans to market its Elise model in the USA next year.

About 300 jobs went at the Norfolk plant last February.

Lotus' other bases in the USA and Malaysia are not affected by the job losses.
