Police appeal in scaffolding death
Police car
Essex Police have issued an appeal for a nurse and other witnesses to come forward following the death of a man who was hit by scaffolding boards hanging from a van.

The 23-year-old man died five days after being struck by the metal boards as he walked along a road, police said.

Toby Delderfield, of Theydon Bois, Essex, suffered severe head injuries in the accident at Abridge, Essex, on 16 January.

He died in hospital on Tuesday, police said.

Officers are urging any witnesses to the accident to come forward and particularly want to speak to an off-duty nurse who is believed to have gone to his aid.
