Warwickshire Beer Company has brewed Old Warwick - and 20p from every bottle sold will go to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. The brewery, based at Cubbington, near Leamington Spa, has named the straw-coloured brew after golden labrador Warwick, who lives with Derek Thorpe in Reading. The bottles also feature a picture of Warwick, who is coming to the end of his working relationship with Derek as he approaches his 10th birthday. Raise thousands "Drinkers are reknowned for their generosity and we're confident that combining our original brew with fundraising will be a real winner," said Angela Shear, Guide Dogs' fundraising officer. The charity has to spend 10-a-day to breed, train and support each of its 5,000 guide dogs. Phil Page, managing director of the brewery, said he hoped Old Warwick would raise thousands of pounds for Guide Dogs, helping the charity with its local work for blind and partially sighted people. | See also: 05 Sep 02 | England 21 Jun 02 | Wales 10 Apr 02 | England Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
