Council hopes court will overturn plans

The future of a company's plans to unload stone and gravel in the middle of Swindon could be decided by a High Court Judge.

Hanson Quarry products have been granted permission by a government planning inspector to transfer material from trains onto lorries.

Swindon's planners want to stop them, and they are asking a High Court judge to overturn that decision.

There is concern the site will create dust and noise.

Roundabout gives up secrets

A video demonstrating the virtues of one of Swindon's famous roundabouts is being exported to France.

People from Brest visited the town recently and were impressed by the traffic system around the "Magic Roundabout".

Officials from the French town have now asked Swindon Borough Council to make a film for their traffic engineers.

The video instruction manual for the traffic scheme was eventually produced in both English and French and could be repeated on the continent.
