| Thursday, 16 January, 2003, 10:20 GMT Stadium sale will not affect club ![]() The Cobblers are a 105-year-old Division 2 team The new board of the Northampton Town Football Club insists that a change of landlord at the Sixfields stadium will not alter the club's plans. The borough council, which rents the stadium to Northampton Town, could sell it to a government regeneration agency this year. Council leader Keith Davies, has said that the "statement of intent" with English Partnerships was publicly known before the club's takeover by Andrew Ellis. But the Deputy Chairman of the Cobblers Ken Goode told BBC Northamptonshire that whoever owns the stadium is irrelevant. He said: "We want to work in partnership with either the council or with English Partnerships to ensure that the football club has a viable and sustainable future." "Any profit that the club makes will be put back into the football club." A bid from the Cobblers board was rejected by the council as being "below market value", and a deal with English Partnerships could be completed by the spring. | See also: 02 Dec 02 | Northampton Town 26 Nov 02 | England 12 Sep 02 | England Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
