The identity of one of the remains found onboard the sunken Hull trawler Gaul have been named - while another two have yet to be publicly identified.

Scientists have confirmed that one of the remains is that of of Hull man Stan Collier, who served on the ship.

Mr Collier's son Ken, who lives in East Yorkshire, told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm numb, over the moon, sad...a lot of mixed, very mixed, emotions.

And he continued: "When is it ever a good moment to be told that we've found some remains of one of your loved ones?"

"For 29 years this is the 'phone call we've been waiting for. Today it's come, it's 29 years down the road, but it's just like yesterday."

The Gaul Sank in the Barents Sea in 1974 with the loss of all 36 men on board.

The wreck was only discovered in 1997 and a survey last summer found human remains on board.

The remains of three members of the crew were raised to the surface and Stan Collier's remains have been identified by scientists using DNA testing.
