'Hunt saboteurs' trial stopped
Hunting
The two women were accused of sabotaging hunting
Two women accused of being part of an attack on a car belonging to a hunt supporter have been bound over to keep the peace.

Charlotte Flindall, 27, and Stephanie Fry, 21, were alleged to have been among a dozen hunt saboteurs who damaged a car belonging to Gary Williams.

But Ms Flindall, of Moore Street, Derby, and Ms Fry, of Ridding Terrace, Nottingham, had denied committing an offence of affray.

They agreed on Wednesday to be bound over to keep the peace after their trial collapsed when the prosecutor could not continue.

Smashed car

A court heard how Mr Williams was pursued along country lanes in Laughton Hill, South Leicestershire, by two Land Rovers containing protestors.

At the time of the incident on 9 March last year he had gone to watch the Fernie Hunt, Leicester Crown Court was told.

Five men had already admitted being part of the attack, which left Mr Williams' vehicle with a smashed window and dented panels.

The trial of Ms Flindall and Ms Fry was halted on its second day after it was revealed that prosecutor Mr Baz Bhatia was unable to continue for personal reasons.

The jury entered not-guilty verdicts on the direction of Judge Stephen Waine.

After the verdicts Ms Flindall agreed to be bound over to keep the peace for a period of two years and Ms Fry for one year.
