| Friday, 3 January, 2003, 09:51 GMT Villagers call for affordable housing ![]() Dartmoor National Park Authority is meeting on Friday A group of Dartmoor villagers is calling for more affordable housing. People living in Bridford are objecting to a planned new housing development, saying it should include more low-cost homes. Plans will be considered on Friday by Dartmoor National Park Authority for a residential development of 17 new homes at Bridford Barton Farm. It is proposed that four houses will be two-bedroom local needs homes, and that the rest of the development will be a mix of three to five-bedroom houses. Not occupied Outline planning permission has already been granted, but there have been eight objections to the detailed plans calling for more affordable housing as part of the scheme. Opponents say that too many larger houses are not occupied throughout the year or are owned by commuters who do not contribute to village life. The application is recommended for approval. | See also: 16 Dec 02 | England 10 Dec 02 | England 07 Nov 02 | England Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
