Homophobic attacks cost trader 20,000
Police on beat
West Yorkshire Police are investigating the attacks
A businessman says homophobic attacks on the home he shares with his partner have left them facing a 20,000 bill for the damage.

Simon Rose, 35, who runs his Witsend furnishing business in Ripponden with partner Jason, says they have been subjected to verbal abuse, had their shop windows smashed and several vehicles damaged.

He told BBC News Online: This whole thing has made me poorly. I've been on the verge of a nervous breakdown."

West Yorkshire police say the allegations are being investigated.

Mr Rose said: "This last incident has made me think, I've got to do something."

A spokesman for West Yorkshire police said: "As with all hate crimes, we take alleged homophobic attacks extremely seriously."

Anyone with information is asked the contact police at Sowerby Bridge.
