Job losses at Littlewoods
Shoppers at till in Littlewoods
Littlewoods has more than 300 stores in the UK
Staff at the Liverpool headquarters of retail chain Littlewoods are facing redundancies.

More than100 jobs are at risk as the home shopping and retail parts of the business are divided.

Managers say the IT, finance and human resources departments at the Old Hall Street headquarters are expected to be affected.

A total of 22,000 people work for Littlewoods across Britain - 6,000 of them in Merseyside.

Owners' pledge

In October, the Barclay brothers bought the Littlewoods Stores and Homes shopping businesses from the Moores family.

They pledged that the headquarters would stay in Merseyside.

The USDAW union says it does not believe that there is a need for job losses.

It hopes to discuss the plan at meetings early next year.
