Jobs go in second factory closure

AEEU union leaders will meet with the owners
More than 100 workers at one of Lincoln's oldest firms are facing an uncertain future, after they were made redundant.

Staff at Clarke's Crank and Forge Ltd, near Pelham Bridge in Lincolnshire, have been told the factory is closing.

At a meeting on Thursday afternoon, workers were told they would no longer be needed after the current orders were complete.

They have been given 30 days notice - after which the factory will close.

Workers have said the news has come as a complete shock to them.

It comes less than two weeks after another Lincolnshire engineering firm announced its closure.

Nearly 70 staff at the Bulgin Power factory in Lincoln were unexpectedly made redundant at the beginning of this month.

A meeting has been arranged between Clark's Crank and Forge Ltd and the AEEU union for next week.
