Bomb squad called to bus station
Suspect device
The object was declared to be harmless
A Norfolk bus driver called out the bomb squad after finding a suspicious device in his vehicle's luggage rack.

The man discovered the plastic bottle filled with liquid and with screws and nails taped around it as he was clearing out his vehicle.

The area around the depot at Cornish Way, North Walsham, was cordoned off after the object was found at about 1745 GMT on Wednesday.

Bomb disposal experts examined it, and declared it harmless.

School trips

Police believe it may have been a prank or part of a school project, and are asking whoever left it on the bus to come forward.

The Sanders double decker bus had been on various runs throughout the day.

The vehicle was checked at the beginning of the afternoon, before it made trips to several village schools and colleges.

The last journey of the day was the 34a route from Norwich to North Walsham via Wroxham, Stalham and Bacton.

Between 20 and 25 passengers were on board, and police would like to talk to any who noticed anything suspicious.
