| Thursday, 5 December, 2002, 18:01 GMT Green concerns over research centre ![]() A plan of the Knowledge Spa to be built in Truro Plans to build a medical research centre in Cornwall are to be considered by planners on Thursday evening. Funding has been secured for The Knowledge Spa, which will be based in the grounds of the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske. But there are still worries about the environmental impact of the development. Carrick District Council's planning committee will be asked to defer the plans for the project because of concerns over surface water drainage, traffic generation and car parking. Economic benefits The scheme will cost �15m and is being paid for by Objective One funding and the South West Regional Development Agency. Because it is expected to be of benefit to the Cornish economy, the committee is being asked to leave final approval to the chief planning officer and the local ward member.
