Once experts have valued the items, they will be put on sale and Shrewsbury Museums is hoping to raise enough funds to keep them in the county. The inquest heard the gold ring was found on a farm near Halfway House, Shrewsbury. The 20 coins, which are bronze, were found on a farm near Market Drayton. The ring appears to be of early 17th century origin and bears the inscription "maids must say no". The landowner, Michael Holloway, told the inquest that the field where it was found had been the site of a market between the years 1200 and 1700. Shrewsbury Museums will be given the first opportunity to purchase the ring and the coins after valuation. | See also: 06 Nov 02 | England 01 Aug 02 | England 27 Nov 01 | England Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
