Amateur film-makers cause gun scare
Police warn against using BB guns public
Armed police arrested three amateur film-makers for re-enacting a movie scene in public with fake guns.

The two men and a teenager were picked up for brandishing air pistols and BB guns after a shopper reported seeing a man with a weapon.

The film re-enactment took place on the sixth floor of a car park in Leamington Spa town centre on Sunday.

The trio were warned and released from custody after Warwickshire police said there was no criminal intent to their actions.

Guns destroyed

The weapons were seized and destroyed.

Police warned that using replica firearms could frighten people and prompt frantic calls to the authorities.

A police spokesman said: "BB guns can look like real guns and a member of the public genuinely thought it was a real weapon.

"Carrying such weapons in public is obviously not a good idea."

Possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Police did not say which film the trio were trying to re-enact.
