| Saturday, 23 November, 2002, 17:23 GMT Goddesses cope with "small" incidents. ![]() Minor incidents have been dealt with by Green Goddesses. A horse stuck in a ditch was just one of the call-outs for Green Goddesses on the Humber. Other incidents during the firefighters' industrial action have included a small shop fire, car and rubbish blazes. The animal got caught up in Eastrington, near Goole, at 1155 GMT on Saturday. But a local farmer managed to pull it out just as the Army arrived.
Captain Tim Legge, Humberside MoD press officer, told BBC News Online: "We are coping well - we haven't been stretched at all. "Thankfully all the fires so far have been small." Meanwhile, firefighters in the region are out in full force on their picket lines. "Everything is still solid," Graeme Lester, Fire Brigade Union chair for Humberside, told BBC News Online. "We are colder and wetter but determined to see this through to its conclusion." |
