| Wednesday, 20 November, 2002, 15:45 GMT Damaged submarine heads to Devonport ![]() HMS Trafalgar was commissioned in 1983 Damaged nuclear-powered submarine HMS Trafalgar has arrived in Devonport for repairs. The vessel was damaged in an accident off the coast of Scotland earlier this month. The Ministry of Defence says the boat sustained considerable damage, but poses no risk to the public. HMS Trafalgar was involved in training exercises off the Isle of Skye when she hit a rock. Severe damage The Navy said that the damage was so severe it would take months to repair. The Ministry of Defence is carrying out an investigation into how the accident happened. A spokesperson said it was too early to comment.
