Cemetery vandals hunted by police
Gravestones
Many of the headstones are now irreparable
Police have launched an investigation after vandals damaged headstones in a cemetery.

About 30 were vandalised at the Fleetwood Cemetery, in Lancashire.

A spokesman for Wyre Council has described it as a "sickening attack".

A local stonemason has been brought in to help fix the stones back in place, but the repair bill is expected to run into hundreds of pounds.

Some of the headstones have suffered irreparable damage, while others have been laid flat to minimise the risk of being vandalised again.

The council is trying to contact the families of those affected.

Lancashire Police have called for anyone who witnessed the vandalism, to get in touch.
