The station is manned by retained firefighters who have worked through the industrial action. Damage to a fire engine was discovered as the firefighters responded to an emergency call. Police have so far only confirmed they are investigating a case of criminal damage. Public support The news of the break-in came towards the end of the 48 hour strike. The Lincolnshire Secretary of the FBU Barry Foster said the strike had gone well in the county: "I think if nothing else it's galvanised both public support and the FBU membership. "The public support has been excellent and I really must thank them, with all the car horns tooting and already donations have come in for striking firemen." Lincolnshire has seen a number of retained members of the FBU decide to work as normal. |
