| Tuesday, 12 November, 2002, 11:09 GMT Local bus links boosted ![]() Communities will benefit from the new services Deprived communities in Grimsby and Cleethorpes are to be given access to a new community bus, the government has announced. North East Lincolnshire council has won more than 375,000 for the scheme. The service will provide transport to training and employment sites in the region, though full details of the routes are yet to be confirmed. The money has come from the Department of Transport's "Urban Bus Challenge", which aims to help regenerate deprived urban areas by improving transport links.
Hull City Council will get 847,000 to set up a community transport service in the west of the city. It is hoped its new bus links will get people to employment sites, health centres and education facilities previously not serviced by public transport. "Tackling social exclusion by improving access to employment, health services and other community facilities is a key aspect of our transport objective," said Transport Minister, John Speller. "These projects will contribute significantly to urban renewal in the areas concerned." | See also: 03 Apr 02 | Science/Nature 18 Oct 02 | England 16 Nov 00 | Politics Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
