Cathedral service for firefighter
Bob Miller
Bob Miller leaves a wife and two teenage children
Thousands of firefighters are expected to attend the funeral of firefighter Bob Miller, who died on duty two weeks ago.

Mr Miller, 44, was the first firefighter in the county to die on active service in 25 years.

Representatives from brigades from across the country will line the route to Leicester cathedral where a memorial service is being held on Tuesday.

Mr Miller died while searching a derelict building in Leicester on October 31.

Large cortege

Mr Miller, a father of two, was killed after falling through a floor while searching an empty factory in Morledge Street.

He is being buried with full service honours, with a memorial service at the cathedral before a private ceremony.

Mr Miller's coffin will be carried from Leicester's Eastern fire station on a fire appliance, driven by members of his watch.

Representatives from other watches in the city will join as the cortege makes its way through the city before coming to the High Street where national firefighters will be waiting.

A memorial fund has been set up in Mr Miller's name.
