Shot woman dies in hospital

The shooting happened on a normally busy city street
Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a woman who was shot in the head in Nottingham died in hospital.

The woman, from Bulwell, was walking down Ilkeston Road in the city at about 0230 GMT on Saturday morning when she was shot.

She was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre, where she died in intensive care on Saturday evening.

A Home Office pathologist was expected to carry out a post mortem examination on Sunday.

The identity of the woman will not be released until all relatives have been informed.

Although in the early hours, the shooting happened on a normally busy road, near the junction with Radford Boulevard.

Police believe a number of people were in the area at the time who might be able to help with inquiries.
