Actor seeks millions for film
Ken Kitson
Ken has written a romantic comedy set in Yorkshire
A Bradford actor is turning fundraiser in a bid to get a 2m film onto the big screen.

Ken Kitson, who has played a policeman in BBC comedy Last of the Summer Wine for the past 20 years, plans to raise the cash to produce a film he has written.

The actor, who has also had a part in the film Brassed Off, has written a romantic comedy called Dreamcatcher, which is set in Yorkshire.

He says his film has already attracted interest from former Coronation Street actress Jean Alexander and Shadows guitarist Hank Marvin who want a part in the film.

Funding

The 56-year-old actor, who also appeared in the film Brassed Off, said he applied for a Lottery grant, but was rejected.

"I've applied to lots of organisations for funding but have been rejected and the awful thing is they don't tell you why," he said.

"I'm not put off though and I'll keep trying until I get this funding.

"I wrote the script 12 years ago and went back to it recently.

"It has no sex or violence in it; it will be a great family film."

Mr Kitson plans to start his fundraising with a charity auction in Huddersfield this month.
