Water supply restored in London
Burst pipe
The rupture stopped supplies to 2,000 homes
Thousands of east London residents have had their water supply switched back on after a burst main cut them off for most of the weekend.

At least 2,000 residents living in the affected area, from Stepney to Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets and Hackney, had to rely on bottled water for over 24 hours.

Thames Water said there had been a drop in pressure caused by shutting down the damaged pipe on Saturday morning.

The problem was so widespread, the company did not have enough resources to fix the pipe and send out emergency supplies.

But Thames Water said the rupture was fixed by 1400 GMT on Sunday.
