Kathleen McDermott and Stephen Smith, from Folkestone in Kent, took their vows in a replica historic courtroom at the London Dungeon on Thursday. The service was officiated by a wedding ceremony designer dressed as an 18th Century judge and was followed by a mock execution and black-iced wedding cake at the reception. Miss McDermott, a window dresser, wore a white dress decorated with red beads to look like blood while the groom wore a sombre suit and horror-style make up. Dungeon first After the ceremony, Alex Lee, who officiated as judge, said: "At first, when I heard about what they wanted to do, I was a bit apprehensive, because I thought, what kind of people are they that they want to get married in The London Dungeon? "But then I realised they were just a couple of goths who really like the place." The couple are the first to get married at the underground horror theme park in Southwark, but they admit it is not to everyone's taste. Mr Smith said: "Some of the family weren't too keen on the dungeon idea, so we'll be making the whole thing legal with a separate ceremony later in the day at Folkestone Registry Office." | See also: 27 Sep 02 | Breakfast 02 Sep 02 | Entertainment 16 Aug 02 | Entertainment Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
