| Monday, 28 October, 2002, 16:44 GMT Danielle witness saw argument ![]() Danielle disappeared on 18 June 2001 A schoolgirl was seen arguing with a man moments before teenager Danielle Jones went missing, a court has heard. Christine Barry told Chelmsford Crown Court that she thought the girl called the man a "pervert" when she saw the argument at 0800 BST on 18 June last year. It is not known if the girl was Danielle, nor if the man involved was her uncle, Stuart Campbell. Mr Campbell, 44, denies murdering his niece who was last seen in her hometown of East Tilbury, Essex.
She told the jury: "I heard what sounded like a child having a tantrum in the street. "She was shouting: 'No, go away, leave me alone', over and over again. "I vaguely remember hearing her say 'pervert'. "She was waving her arms at him. I don't know if she was actually hitting him." Identity parade Mrs Barry criticised police who took her statement. She said she felt "extremely angry" after attending an identity parade because the men in the line-up were all wearing baseball caps. The man she had seen with the girl had not been wearing a hat, and this had been "very unhelpful". After 15-year-old Danielle's disappearance, she said, she saw a photograph in a local paper featuring Danielle's father, Tony Jones. She said he reminded her of the man she saw arguing with the girl because of his eyes, but that Mr Jones looked bigger and older. The case was adjourned until Tuesday. | See also: 24 Oct 02 | England 04 Nov 02 | England 24 Oct 02 | England 21 Oct 02 | England 17 Oct 02 | England 10 Oct 02 | England 09 Oct 02 | England 02 Oct 02 | England Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
