Residents want action on hooligans
Some of the youngsters causing trouble are as young as six, say locals
Families on a Darlington estate have been meeting police and council officials to discuss problems with anti-social behaviour.

Residents claim hooligans, some as young as six, are making their lives a misery.

Just over a week ago bus company Arriva withdrew a service to the Skerne Park estate, after youths assaulted a driver.

That has now been reinstated following the meeting at the weekend, after police pledged to step up their presence on the estate at nights.

Stones thrown

A spokesman for County Durham police said: "The service in the evenings will be resumed and there will be a larger than usual police presence."

Arriva had withdrawn the town circular night service from Skerne Park to Market Place, after the incident.

They made their decision after a gang pelted the bus with stones and then attacked the driver and two passengers.

Security patrols

Residents have also complained about property damage, car crime, and vandalism.

Some have demanded closed circuit television cameras and private security patrols.

Neighbourhood Watch members support the call for CCTV, and hope a solution to the problems can be found.
