Maxine Carr was refused bail
Maxine Carr, the woman charged in connection with the killings of schoolgirls Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells, has had her application for bail refused.

Ms Carr, 25, a former teaching assistant from Soham in Cambridgeshire, has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Her application for bail was heard in chambers by Judge David Mellor at Norwich Crown Court.

Her lawyers said they did not yet know whether there would be an appeal.

On remand

Ms Carr, who was not at the hearing, has been held on remand in Holloway Prison in London since she was charged.

Her boyfriend Ian Huntley, 28, is charged with murdering the two 10-year-olds in August.

The girls went missing from their homes in Soham on 4 August.

Their bodies were found in a ditch at Lakenheath in Suffolk on 17 August.
