| Friday, 4 October, 2002, 15:48 GMT 16:48 UK Tyne pub date for Dannii ![]() Dannii will play to a Newcastle audience of just 250 A small pub in Newcastle has scored a coup - by signing up Kylie Minogue's sister Dannii. The raunchy Australian star, who once sold out stadiums, will play to a crammed audience of just 250 at The Cluny in Newcastle's east end. Regulars say her appearance on 9 October will be "something a bit different" for the spit and sawdust bar. Dannii Minogue became a star in the Australian soap Home and Away at the time her sister Kylie was playing Charlene in rival Neighbours.
Cluny manager Davey Bruce, said: "It's incredible to think that we will have Dannii Minogue singing live at the Cluny. "When they rang up to see if we could do it, I thought someone was having a joke. But then I realised they were being serious. "We were only too happy to say' yes'. "We have a good reputation as a live band venue, so I hope that is why they chose us. "I'm hoping to book Dannii's sister for Christmas." Danii will perform her forthcoming dance anthem Put The Needle On It during the show. Other guests on the night will feature chart acts Dirty Vegas, Sarah Whatmore and Marcella Woods. In Australia, Dannii was initially a bigger star than big sister. Dannii first hit the UK charts in 1991 with Love and Kisses, following it up with the likes of Jump To The Beat, This Is It and All I Wanna Do. She has recently signed a long-term album deal with WEA London Records and is currently working with the likes of top DJ Roger Sanchez. | See also: 14 Feb 01 | Entertainment 24 Aug 99 | Edinburgh Festival 99 17 Aug 99 | Edinburgh Festival 99 Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
