| Wednesday, 2 October, 2002, 13:08 GMT 14:08 UK 600,000 drug stash hidden in cove ![]() Ivy Cove is only accessible by boat and coast path More than 600,000 worth of cannabis has been found stashed in a remote south Devon cove. The Brixham lifeboat was called out to Ivy Cove, between Kingswear and Brixham, at around 1820 BST on Monday after receiving reports of a damaged boat. A number of bags containing what has been identified as cannabis resin were found near the rigid inflatable. Detectives believe the drugs were being made ready for collection.
The lifeboat was launched after coastguards based at Brixham were informed of the boat's discovery. It had suffered what was described by police as "extensive damage". A search of the area was carried out by the lifeboat, by coastguards and the Devon and Cornwall police force helicopter. Dealer supplies No casualties were found during the search. Police say they have no idea where the drugs came from. They think they may have originated from across the channel to be picked up later. Officers say it will have cut a huge hole in supplies if the cannabis resin was destined for dealers in the South West. | Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
