The Experience Corps created a therapy garden in a quiet corner of the Braunstone estate. The group specialises in organising projects for the over 50s. The event was part of the Experience Corps' What Can I Do Day?
Joe Bennett from Braunstone Garden Care said: "Basically it's going to be a place were the people of Braunstone can come and see a little bit of the countryside on their doorstep." The plans were to build a therapeutic sheltered community garden The volunteers cleared undergrowth and opened up areas for planting. They also built fences, walkways and decorative features. Organisers said they hoped the work would be continued after the event so the garden could grow to maturity. Many volunteers said they wanted to give something back to the organisation and help improve the troubld estate at the same time. | See also: 30 Jan 02 | Politics 19 Sep 01 | UK 29 Mar 01 | Politics Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
