Masked men shoot motorist
Police car
Several shots were fired at the victim's car
A man has been shot as he sat in a parked car in Birmingham.

The 28-year-old victim was in the drivers when he was hit by at least one bullet.

Police say the shooting happened in Parliament Street in Aston just before 2400 BST on Saturday.

He is now recovering in hospital and is expected to undergo surgery later on Sunday.

Police protection

Witnesses told police they saw two men wearing masks and hoods approach the stationary vehicle from behind.

A number of shots were then fired into the vehicle.

The victim was hit by at least one of the bullets.

He is now in hospital under police protection.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses to contact them with information about the incident.
