Speed cameras at accident hotspot
Safety cameras are being installed on two roads in Hartlepool which have been earmarked as accident blackspots.
The cameras are being put up on Oxford Road and Raby Road, after a high number of crashes in recent years.
The Cleveland Safety Camera Partnership, says cameras have proved effective in other areas.
Team to keep streets clean
A new environmental squad has taken to the streets of Hartlepool to make sure the streets are kept clean.
The three-strong team is a scheme involving Hartlepool Council and the town's New Deal for Communities.
Its responsibilities include street cleaning, gardening, removing fly-tipped waste and removing graffiti.
NDC funding of around �200,000 is being ploughed into the new initiative and the team members are employed by the Council which trains them and provides most of their equipment.
Lessons in taking a stand
People on Teesside are being offered help to crack down on anti-social behaviour.
It is believed that fear of reprisals prevents many residents in Redcar and Cleveland from making complaints about anti-social behaviour.
Now workshops are being offered in the region to support victims and encourage them to take a stand.
Free safety checks for child seats
Safety checks on child car seats are being carried out in East Cleveland.
It follows a survey carried out by Redcar and Cleveland Council, which found that 80% of seats were not fitted properly, putting lives at risk.
Using a specially designed car seat rig, the council is providing the checks free of charge to members of the public and businesses.
