Eastfield Cemetery in Peterborough has become a virtual no-go area according to people living in the Dogsthorpe area of the city. One victim of the muggers, Margaret Traiville, has collected 3,000 names on a petition sent to her MP asking for tighter security at the cemetery. Since the attack Mrs Traiville says she has been too frightened to visit her husband's grave alone. But it was when she read about the mugging of an 84-year-old woman in the cemetery that she decided to take action. Peterborough MP Helen Clark met the people demanding action on Wednesday. Mrs Clark has visited the cemetery with police and city councillors to discuss the possibility of installing CCTV cameras or guaranteeing a stronger police presence in the area. | See also: 10 Apr 00 | Scotland Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
