They continue the 73-year relationship between the London hospital and JM Barrie's classic tale. The author was a governor at the hospital and left it the rights to the tale as a bequest in 1929. Great Ormond Street opened with just 10 beds on Valentine's Day 1852 and now cares for more than 100,000 sick children every year. ![]() The stamps are likely to be snapped up ![]() The hospital has a Barrie wing and a Peter Pan mural ![]() There is a memorial to Barrie in the hospital chapel ![]() Great Ormond Street pursues pioneering research | See also: 14 Feb 02 | Health 14 Feb 02 | Health 01 Nov 00 | Scotland Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
