Mosque raid mother speaks out
The Ahmadi family
Feriba Ahmadi wants a better future for her children
An Afghan mother who was forced out of a mosque by police officers in riot gear has told the BBC of her fight to remain in the UK.

Feriba Ahmadi and her husband Farid were seized in a police raid on the Ghausia Jamia Mosque in Lye, near Stourbridge in the West Midlands on 25 July.

They fled the Taleban two years ago for a safer life in the UK with their two young children.

The couple have been held at a detention centre near Heathrow since their arrest and are awaiting a judicial review to decide whether they are deported to Germany.

Police raid on mosque
The raid on the mosque was widely condemned

Mrs Ahmadi told the BBC World Service that, despite a new regime in Afghanistan, it was still not safe for her family.

She said: "I want something for my children, for their future, so when they are grown up, when their schooling is finished they can get a job, go to university.

"We came for my children's future - I am 24 and I have not seen a good life, always bombing, rockets, fighting.

"We have nothing left in Afghanistan. My house is gone and everything I had I gave away to come to Britain."

Their children, Hadia, six, and Seear, four, were not at the mosque when officers stormed in and seized the couple.

They are due to be reunited with their parents on Thursday.
