Aaron Jones, from Hendy in Carmarthenshire, west Wales, was killed along with pilot Peter Clarke, his future son-in-law, when the aircraft crashed into a field near Warwick. In January, the president of Agco and another senior executive were killed in a plane crash at Birmingham International Airport. The US company announced in June it was to close down the Coventry factory of its subsidiary, tractor manufacturer Massey Ferguson.
The two men were killed when their two-seater Robinson 22 helicopter crashed at about 1800 BST on Saturday. An eyewitness said he saw the helicopter explode in the air before crashing yards from the A46 dual carriageway. It had taken off from the Wellesbourne airfield near Stratford-upon-Avon. Mr Jones' wife and daughter - the fiancee of Mr Clarke - were at the airfield waiting for them to return. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has begun an inquiry. Private jet Mr Jones, 56, had recently retired from his post as senior vice president of worldwide manufacturing for Agco after working for the company for more than 30 years. He was married with two daughters and lived in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. Mr Clarke, 24, was from Ledborough Wood in Buckinghamshire. On 4 January, Agco president John Shumejda and senior executive Ed Swingle were killed when their private jet crashed during take-off from Birmingham. Saturday's fatal helicopter accident was the first of two in Warwickshire over the weekend. On Sunday, four people escaped with minor injuries when their aircraft crashed on take-off near Gaydon. | See also: 15 Jul 02 | England 14 Jul 02 | England 25 Jun 02 | England 04 Jan 02 | Business Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
