 | | Wednesday, 8 May, 2002, 10:54 GMT 11:54 UK Man told: Stay away from Queen  The streaker appeared near the Queen's car A 27-year-old man accused of streaking during a Royal visit to Newcastle upon Tyne has been ordered to keep away from the Queen when she completes her visit to the North East. Brynn Richard Reed, who works in the government's pensions department on Tyneside, appeared before North Tyneside Magistrates on Wednesday. He was charged with outraging public decency following an incident as the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh visited St Mary's Cathedral.
Magistrates were told that the offence would be heard at Newcastle Crown Court. Mr Reed, of Stormont Street, North Shields, did not enter a plea when he appeared before the court. Neil Pallister, prosecuting, asked the court for a two-week adjournment and for Mr Reed to be released on conditional bail. Magistrates ordered Mr Reed not go within 200 yards of the Queen, who visited County Durham on Wednesday. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are in the North East during the second leg the Queen's nationwide Golden Jubilee tour. They visited Sunderland and Gateshead before going to Newcastle-upon-Tyne to unveil a statue of the late Cardinal Basil Hume. | |
