Organisers of the National Rare Breeds' Show and Sale, held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, said staging the event would be too difficult under rules introduced after last year's outbreak. A temporary licensing system means livestock markets and agricultural shows have to operate under strict bio-security rules. The show and sale normally takes place on the first weekend in September and attracts up to 8,000 people. Richard Lutwyuche, from the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, said: "For two days of the year we effectively turn the show ground into a market. "That was perfectly feasible before the regulations came into being but these demands are onerous and to turn a show ground into a market is just impossible." | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||
