| Monday, 15 April, 2002, 14:04 GMT 15:04 UK Train derailed on level crossing ![]() The train was damaged but remained upright A passenger train has been derailed after hitting a lorry at a level crossing, causing minor injuries to 11 people. Passengers were treated for cuts and bruises following the incident near Saxmundham, Suffolk, at about 1000 BST on Monday. The train, the 0905 BST from Lowestoft to Ipswich, struck the lorry at Blaxhall Hall, Great Glemham. A total of 56 passengers and two crew members were on board the single-carriage train, which remained upright.
"A door fell on us as we were on the floor, it felt like the train was going to tip, I was just waiting for it to tip. "There was a panic, everyone was really shook-up by it, everyone was really shocked." A total of 11 people were injured with eight described as walking wounded. Five people have been taken to hospital in Ipswich, one of them was being treated for spinal injuries. The train driver and the ticket collector were among those who were injured but the lorry driver is not thought to have been hurt.
