Bredbury Hall nightclub

A woman who lost all her hair after having cancer treatment says she is the victim of discrimination after being refused entry to a nightclub in Stockport.

Emily Dibben, 24, wanted to have a night out with friends at The Bredbury Hall Hotel and Country Club, which describes itself as "the North's premier venue", to celebrate her gradual recovery.

But when they rang the nightclub to ask if they could get in, the manager refused because it bars anyone with a shaved head.

Miss Dibben said: "I felt as if I was being discriminated against and I felt very angry."

One of my friends wrote to the managing director and demanded an explanation but so far we have heard nothing

The nightclub manager is said to have insisted there could be no exception to the policy, despite being told the reason why Miss Dibben had no hair.

She explained: "One of my friends lives in Stockport and we arranged to go to go to Bredbury Hall.

"When we got to my friend's house, she said she had read an article about how a girl who had shaved her head for charity and was not allowed into the club.

Angry letter

"In the article the club commented that there was no exception.

"On that basis we phoned the club only to be told we couldn't come in."

Miss Dibben, a self-employed chiropodist, finally went somewhere else in Stockport with her friends.

"One of my friends wrote to the managing director and demanded an explanation but so far we have heard nothing," she added.

The manager was not available for comment.
