| Wednesday, 13 March, 2002, 14:20 GMT Drivers puzzle at third yellow line ![]() There are usually only one or two yellow lines Motorists were left scratching their heads over mysterious treble yellow lines painted on a street in Swindon. The three newly-painted lines run for about 40 yards along Stanier Street, a residential area of the Wiltshire town, and drivers are not sure what they mean. Police say such treble lines are not in the Highway Code and they have left locals wondering whether they can park outside their homes and shops. The council is trying to find out why the extra line has appeard. 'Quite bizarre' The town's drivers are already having to negotiate 45 sets of roadworks and deal with a abnormally large number of roundabouts. Driver Andrew Smith, 21, said: "I've no idea what they mean. It's quite bizarre. "It's a nightmare parking around here anyway." A spokeswoman for Swindon Borough Council said: "We don't know who did this yet." She said the council was investigating the possibility the road painter had gone "off-track". | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||
