| Tuesday, 5 March, 2002, 18:13 GMT Teenager used tie to commit suicide ![]() Hannah Taylerson had counselling at her school A teenager hanged herself after becoming upset about boyfriend problems and school gossip, a coroner has concluded. Hannah Taylerson, 15, hanged herself with her school tie inside her bedroom wardrobe in Kingswood, South Gloucestershire, an inquest heard. Her mother, Diane, said after the hearing that the family had no idea Hannah felt so desperate. A friend told the Bristol inquest that the teenager was upset by gossip at John Cabot City Technology College in Kingswood, and about splitting up with her boyfriend. Hannah told her friend Emily Peters she wanted to kill herself. Shopping trip But on a shopping trip days before her death, she had told Emily she had sought counselling at school and seemed happy. Hannah was found by her mother Diane at their home in Dyrham Road, Kingswood - on the outskirts of Bristol - on 14 January. She was hanging between clothes in the wardrobe. In a statement read to the court Mrs Taylerson said she had heard music coming from the bedroom but got no reply as she knocked on the door and tried to get her daughter's attention by switching the electricity supply on and off. Eventually she went in and found Hannah in the wardrobe, hanging from the clothes rail. School counsellor Emily, who attended a different school, said Hannah explained how she was going to kill herself with a school tie in December but assured Emily she had been to see a school counsellor. But Hannah had not told school counsellors about the severity of her problems, the inquest heard. She had been to see her GP, Dr William Jones, with self-inflicted cuts which she told him were due to problems at school, he explained in a statement. Bristol coroner Paul Forrest said: "This girl had problems with friends and her boyfriend and she took her own life." | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||
