The Manchester United star has had extensive sittings with the sculptors at Madame Tussaud's over the last two weeks. More than 200 measurements were taken and eye and hair colours matched.
The exhibition will feature a mix of video, music, memorabilia and wax figures to celebrate some of football's most memorable moments. The likeness of England coach Sven Goran Eriksson has also been sculpted. To help guests feel the tension of the moment, Beckham's figure has been given a unique addition - a beating heart. Bruce McKendrick, managing director of Madame Tussaud's, said the attraction would be open before Easter. "We wanted to create an attraction that captured the drama and emotion of football and to celebrate the achievements of the England team.
The announcement comes in the same week that Beckham and his wife Victoria announced they were expecting their second child. It has also been revealed that he is being lined up to promote Marks & Spencer. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
