Big parents watching you
Webcam view of Lighthouse nursery
Parents are given security codes for the webcams
A Leicester nursery is inviting parents to keep an eye on their children from the office - via two webcams.

The Lighthouse Day nursery has linked up two CCTV cameras to the web so that parents can keep an eye on their children from the home or office.

After tapping in a password and security code, parents can see what is going on in both main rooms at the nursery in the King's Centre in Wigston.

Nursery manager, Audra Taylor, said: "The parents are all for the idea. It puts their minds at rest while they're at work.

Involved parents

"If their child was a bit upset when they left in the morning, or maybe feeling a bit under the weather, they can log on and check.

"Or the parents might just be sitting at work and thinking about their child."

Peace of mind for parents

Kate Woodford is one mother who thinks that the service will give her peace of mind after she leaves four-year-old Jake and six-month-old Erin at the nursery in the morning.

Mrs Woodford said: "There's always something in the back of your mind and you hear horror stories on the news and from people you know, and so it does give you that reassurance."

After a trial run at the Lighthouse proved a hit, parents of all 28 babies and toddlers at the nursery are being offered their own passwords from Tuesday.

Ms Taylor said: "We're expecting a lot of interest from parents today.

"We want parents to be involved as possible in the care of their children."
