| Wednesday, 20 February, 2002, 08:24 GMT Missing nurse inquiry 'botched' ![]() Mr Kerton wants a "proper" investigation by police The father of the missing nurse, Louise Kerton, says the inquiry in to her disappearance has been mishandled. Phil Kerton believes his daughter has been "unlawfully killed" and is demanding detectives carry out a full investigation. His criticism comes as police officers from the UK, Germany and Belgium meet on Wednesday to discuss the case. In response to the claimed lack of action, Mr Kerton hired former royal protection chief, Dai Davies, to look into his daughter's disappearance.
Ms Kerton, who lived with fianc Peter Simon in Broadstairs, Kent, was last seen on 30 July at Aachen railway station in Germany, where Mr Simon's mother dropped her off. The police inquiry was scaled back after reported sightings of Ms Kerton with a Polish immigrant living in homeless hostels in Aachen. Mr Kerton has travelled to Germany several times to look for his daughter. Speaking from his home in New Ash Green, Kent, Mr Kerton said detectives had not followed up a number of lines of inquiry. 'Severe harm' "We want the forces to have on record our formal allegation there has been an unlawful killing and we expect the forces to investigate the stated crime. "We think she has come to severe harm up to and including murder but it could also be that she has accidentally died through misadventure and somebody is concealing the truth.
"Since the alleged sightings of Louise the investigation has just been botched." Mr Kerton said he was fed up with the "jurisdictional problems" the UK and European police forces claim to have faced and wants detectives to develop a plan of action. Wednesday's police meeting was organised after pressure from the British Consulate in Germany. Ms Kerton was a former classmate of Lucie Blackman, the British bar hostess murdered in Japan. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
