The company, Patak's, says the 12m site in Leigh - which is the size of six football pitches - will help to satisfy the UK's growing demand for Eastern food. Patak's employ 400 people, 248 of whom work at the new factory in Leigh, and their products are used in an estimated 90% of the UK's Indian Resturants. It now offers ready-made and microwaveable meals to the UK as well as Europe, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, the USA and more than 40 other countries worldwide. The firm was forced to move to the 12-acre Leigh site in June 2001 to cope with demand for their products.
